The "Project" can be considered as a combination of resources and organizational factors united temporarily in order to reach a single defined objective, with restraints on time, cost, quality and resources.
An innovative and complex effort that involves inter-related assignments performed by various organizational units with defined yet dynamically varying objectives, resources, time limits and budgets.
To achieve “effective” management an organized, phased, methodological approach is necessary in order to attain the preset objectives.
The English expression “Project Management” refers us to the whole activity, developed along a defined temporal horizon, towards the realization of a project through the optimization and employment of available resources.
This methodology is particularly effective in businesses that need to manage complex projects (in terms of delivery time, budget and quality) or at the same time, generally present growing risks due to the increase in complexity. Thanks to their transversal applicability, Project Management techniques are used in the most varied of sectors both public and private, from the realization of software to research projects, from mechanical manufacturing to the provision of services.
Companies that opportunely adopt Project Management techniques and practices are more able to succeed in individualizing, appraising, mitigating and reducing risks to acceptable levels during the execution of the project.
In virtue of these affirmations, this book is aimed at sensitizing companies and functional directors regarding the importance of the methodology and also to furnish the tools and methods to its readers in the organization and control of a project and to face any problems arising during its progress.
