It was created to support SME internationalization processes, configured as a poli-functional structure oriented to assistance, consultancy and coordination of activities directed to foreign market penetration. From a commercial internationalization process point of view, a crucial point is represented by the identification of countries to which the company addresses its interest. One of the reasons for its importance lies in the choice of the country selected in regard to the achievable competitive position. Problem relevance and complexity requires the adoption of a systematic and structured approach, which is able to rationalize the company evaluative process and to reduce decision uncertainty. The selection of geographical areas should represent the result of national environment attraction and opportunity and risk analysis. In reality, one of the major weaknesses emerging from the internationalization process followed by SME is due to the lack of rationalization in entry method selection, often not reflecting the long term vision. The PD For International Landscape proposes a methodological analytical and structured approach to select target countries. This approach allows the evaluation of company internationalization opportunities on the basis of a current situation check up. The systematic application of this method makes the realization of market scouting possible and, by means of data collection, broadens competitive system knowledge. Moreover, the method allows, by means of collection of the primary contacts, the subsequent implementation of the International Business Plan and foreign market entry planning. |
